Benefits of Contract Partnership

The Board is in charge
Lowest possible costs
Respect for volunteer time & Dedication

The Board is in charge.
  1. All work is done under the direction of Board approved plans and budgets.
  2. All contracts are in the name of the organization and under the control of the Board of Directors.
  3. The organization is not absorbed into a large management firm.
  4. Functions and responsibilities are clearly define and decentralized allowing the Board to easily monitor results and make adjustments in just the underperforming areas.
  5. Contracted Partners provide specific costs for easier budgeting with fewer surprises — these are not good surprises.

Lowest possible costs
  1. Lean and mean — well, maybe not mean! But you get the idea.
  2. No unnecessary layers of senior management — meaning less cost.
  3. No “middle man” mark-up on any contracted fees or direct expenses.
  4. The organization is not obligated to use “in-house” services with low quality and high mark-ups.
  5. Under the direction of the Board, the cost savings may be directed to programs or kept as reserves.
  6. No direct employees, human resource issues or related taxes.

Respect for volunteer time & dedication
  1. Bigger often means more bureaucracy and inefficiency…costing volunteer time and causing frustration.
  2. A lean and efficient organization is directly connected and responsive to its volunteers, members, supporters, funders and stakeholders.
  3. Extra layers of formal management often muddle these important relationships.
  4. More volunteer support.
  5. Higher quality programs and operations.
